The RX1R III Was the Perfect Camera for Overseas Travel

It's been about three weeks since I bought the RX1R III. I've taken around 2,000 shots so far, and it's confirmed — this camera is the perfect fit for me.

Why It Worked So Well

  • Lightweight
  • Bright F2 lens
  • 35–70mm focal range via step crop
  • Adequate battery life

No Real Drawbacks

Addressing the Commonly Cited Concerns

Camera shake and battery life are both manageable with a bit of user adaptation.

No Optical Image Stabilization

I shot mostly at 1/250s and didn't notice any blur in my photos. When I needed a bit more light, 1/125s was still sharp enough for handheld shooting.

Small Battery

A portable battery bank solves this easily. During this trip, there were days when I charged once while on the move — that was it. Shooting around 300–400 frames a day, I never needed to charge twice in a single day.
